Brevard County Schools Close Early April 29 Due To Shuttle Endeavour Launch

VIERA, FLORIDA – Selected schools will have early dismissal on Friday, April 29, 2011 due to the heavy influx of traffic expected with the shuttle launch.
During a transportation logistics meeting that took place late yesterday afternoon, the Titusville Police Department and the Director of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) strongly urged Brevard Public Schools to consider dismissing these schools early.
This unprecedented request is due to the historic record crowds expected to coincide with the final launch of the shuttle Endeavour. Schools were identified by transportation officials based on bus route directions and an analysis of delays experienced during previous launches.
