WINTER PARK, Florida — The decision of the Susan G. Komen Foundation to cease funding Planned Parenthood has drawn sharp criticism and praise directed at the Central Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure today.
Pro-life and pro-choice supporters spoke their mind on the local organization’s Facebook page.
“I have been a supporter of Susan G. Komen for the Cure for years now but, due to the decision to withdraw funding for cancer screenings to Planned Parenthood, I will no longer be making donations to your organization. This pains me, as I feel that you are doing integral work. Many women in my life have suffered from breast cancer. However, I believe you are throwing the baby out with the bathwater by bowing to anti-choice interests,” said one pro-choice supporter.
A pro-life supporter had nothing but praise for the decision to stop funding Planned Parenthood, “Thank you, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, for your leadership in withdrawing from pro-abortion Planned Parenthood any further funding from your pro-woman organization! Yes!”
Susan G. Komen is not the only large charitable organization that funds Planned Parenthood. The popular United Way organization also funds Planned Parenthood. According to the United Way’s website:
‘No United Way funds are currently used, or have ever been used to support abortion services. Several United Way partner agencies provide professional family and individual counseling services which include professional counseling on pregnancy-related problems.
