PORT CANAVERAL, Florida — The Cape Kennedy Corvette Club will be holding it’s 9th annual Vettes at the Port show at Port Canaveral, Saturday, April 17 in The Cove waterside dining and recreation area from 8:30 a.m. till 3:00 p.m.
There will be music provided by DJ Fast Eddie; a charity poker walk to benefit the National Kidney Foundation; a silent auction; a 50/50 drawing with half the proceeds going to the Cape Canaveral Volunteer Fire Department for their charity; and many of the restaurants will be featuring special discounts. The Port is a popular venue for the Show because of its backdrop of beautiful cruise ships and the waterside dining establishments.
Last year’s show raised $558 for the National Kidney Foundation’s Local Chapter and $551 for the Cape Canaveral Volunteer Fire Department charity.
Cape Kennedy Corvette Club, the first Corvette club in Florida, was established in 1967 and had several astronauts as members (astronaut Bruce Melnick is a current member). Today the non-profit Club boasts more than 150 members and raises funds to provide scholarships each year to deserving Brevard Community College students in addition to supporting many chartable organizations. In 2009, the Club donated $1,500 toward scholarships and $6,349 to six local charities.
The Club meets the second Thursday of each month at the Clarion Hotel on Merritt Island at 7:00 p.m.
