Cocoa Beach Commission Nominates City Manager

COCOA BEACH, Florida — At their August 13, 2012 meeting, the Cocoa Beach City Commission unanimously nominated Mr. Bob Majka (pronounced “Mika”) to be the City’s new City Manager.  The Commission directed the City’s team to negotiate a contract.

Mr. Majka currently serves as Bay County, Florida, Assistant County Manager.   He began working in local government as a firefighter in 1988.  In 1993, he joined Bay County as the Hazardous Materials Program Manager, advanced to become the Emergency Management Division Manager and then Chief of Emergency Services in 1998.  In 2006, Mr. Majka was promoted to assistant County Manager.

While working his way up the ranks, Mr. Majka completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration, a degree in fire science technology and a certification from the United States Fire Administration’s Executive Fire Officer Program. He is currently working on a master’s in business administration.
