Police ID Melbourne Arcade Robbery Suspect

On Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at approximately 4:00 A.M., the Melbourne Police Department responded to the Allied Veterans of the World arcade located at 3299 South Babcock Street in reference to an armed robbery.

During the robbery attempt, 18-year-old Mark Spivey was shot multiple times by an Allied Veterans security guard.  Spivey fled the scene on foot but was soon located by police less than a block away from the business. Two other suspects that were with Spivey ran from the business and have not yet been caught.

Spivey remains in a local hospital under police guard and he will face charges associated with the armed robbery attempt and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.


The Melbourne Police Department is currently investigating this incident.

UPDATE: Jerry Bass, National Commander of Allied Veterans of the World, Inc. & Affiliates, said in an email to Brevard Times that the internet cafe is no longer associated with Allied Veterans of the World.
