40% ‘GO’ For Today’s Delta IV Launch

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida — The launch of the GPS IIF-3 spacecraft aboard a Delta IV medium configuration rocket has a 40% weather chance for launch at 8:10 a.m. EDT on Thursday October 4, 2012 with a 19-minute launch window.



As of October 3, 2012,
The USAF 45th Weather Squadron says that there is a 40 percent chance overall of acceptable weather conditions at launch time, with a concern for thick cumulus clouds and precipitation.



Additionally, United Launch Alliance’s latest launch status as of 3 a.m. today is still ‘GO’ for launch.



The
Delta IV will carry the military GPS satellite into space from Space Launch Complex-37B at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
The best places to watch today’s launch are from Titusville southward along the Indian River, between Merritt Island and Cape Canaveral along State Road 528, Port Canaveral with best viewing and parking at Jetty Park, and along the beaches of Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach, Florida.
