Turbo Tax Goes Off Line Sunday Night

2013 Tax Day procrastinators had a scare last night when Turbo Tax went off-line hours before the 1040 individual taxpayer filing deadline.

Last night, just before 11 p.m. EDT, the online tax filing giant started to get complaints that its system was not working, to which it Tweeted, “We’re having problems with TurboTax online. We’re in process bringing back the experience u expect. Updates 2 follow.”
About an hour later, to the relief of last minute online tax filers, Turbo Tax tweeted again, “Good news – TurboTax [dot] com is back online and functional.  For those still having issues, please try closing your browser and go back to turbotax dot com in a fresh window.”

  • The moral of the story is don't wait until the final few hours to do your taxes. Then all this can be avoided...geez.

  • i'm not going to file early. They are not going to get my tax payment any earlier than they absolutely have to.

  • Obama's tax cheating Treas. Sec. "Little" Timothy Geithner blamed TurboTax. I wonder if he'll accept that excuse from the peons?

  • and yes, i know i could file early and send my payment today. but for standard forms, there's no need, if the company i pay to do the processing for me can't handle the load, then it's their fault and their problem. They need to make it right for their customers.

  • I filed early electronically (Feb 13th) due to college financial aid requirements this year and I still have seen my over $7000 refund. It is unethical to not give refunds for 8 weeks for electronically submitted taxes.

  • Interesting. I had mine done and submitted the very day I received my last pertinent statement. All was done and had my refunds (state included) about a week later. Are people really this lazy?

  • Serves 'em right. When will you sheople learn, take care of your own business on time and by yourself and not trust others (or some website) to do it for you. If you're going to be dumb, you'd better be tough. And you can bet the majority of these "tough" last minute filers are crying and moaning like the foolish wimps they are.
