5-year-old Boy Hit By Pickup Truck In Brevard County

COCOA, Florida — A 5-year-old boy remains in critical condition after being hit by a pickup truck in Brevard County, Florida.
Around 7:20 p.m., a special needs child had gotten away from his parents in a nearby parking lot.  As the parents were searching for the boy, he wandered into the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 near Indian River Drive and into the path of a 2013 Dodge pickup truck driven by 64-year-old Timm Eri.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Eri swerved to the left – but the right front of the pickup struck the child.

The boy was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando, Florida.

  • If a child is special needs how is it the child was able to wonder in the first place? let alone wonder off. What were the care takers doing when the child wondered off other than not watching a 5 year old?

  • Apparently you are not a parent. If you were you would know that it is impossible to watch a child 24/7 and things happen in a split second. Come off of your high horse and stop being so judgmental. Show a little empathy for a family that is going through a tragic ordeal.
