Brevard County Man Arrested After Fatal Hit and Run

ORANGE COUNTY, Florida — According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Brevard County man has been arrested following a fatal hit and run accident in Orange County, Florida that occurred at 1:33 a.m. on Sunday.

FHP says that 49-year-old James Robert Alpaugh of Titusville, Florida was driving a 2007 Toyota pickup truck eastbound on State Road 50 in the left travel lane.  Another vehicle, described as a red minivan, was traveling eastbound on State Road 50 in the left turn lane.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Nicole Marie Brennan of Orlando, Florida had just stepped from her vehicle after it had been involved in a two car crash near the intersection of State Road 50 and Lake Pickett Road.

Brennan was standing on the sold white line dividing the left turn lane and left travel lane of eastbound State Road 50 when the front left of the pickup truck struck Brennan.  The red minivan then struck Brennan and dragged her into the intersection of State Road 50 and Lake Picket Road.

FHP says that both vehicles left the scene of the accident without providing any further information.  At approximately 5 a.m. this morning, Alpaugh returned to the scene of the accident with the pickup truck.  FHP troopers then arrested Alpaugh  for leaving the scene of a crash.

Troopers are still looking for the red minivan which should have front bumper and undercarriage damage.
