NOAA National Hurricane Center Tropical Depression 2 Update

MIAMI, Florida — As of 11 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, NOAA’s National Hurricane Center in Miami has issued a tropical weather outlook due to the presence Tropical Depression Two (T.D.2) located about 910 miles east of the Lesser Antilles Islands.

Tropical Depression 2 has maximum sustained winds of 35 miles per hour and is moving to the west at 17 miles per hour.  NOAA’s storm tracker forecasts that T.D. 2 will become a remnant low by Thursday as it moves closer to Puerto Rico.

Interests in the Lesser Antilles should monitor the progress of T.D. 2.

Spaghetti models are in general agreement that projected path of Tropical Depression 2, or its remnants, will move closer to Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, and the Bahamas later this week.

If Tropical Depression 2 develops into a tropical storm or hurricane, the next name for the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane season is Bertha.
