Edward H. Johnson Killed In Osceola County Crash

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Florida — A Brevard County man has died as a result of a hit-and-run crash in Osceola County.

Just before 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, 26-year-old Edward H. Johnson, Jr. of Melbourne, Florida was standing in the inside travel lane on State Road 535 while attempting to retrieve an item that fell out of the car he was traveling in. 

Meanwhile, a vehicle was traveling south in the inside travel lane on Vineland Road, north of North Poinciana Boulevard. 


According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the front of the vehicle struck Johnson, Jr. who was then propelled southward and came to a final rest in the center and inside travel lanes of State Road 535.  After the impact, the vehicle fled the scene.

Just before 7 a.m. today, FHP troopers located a possible suspect vehicle in Osceola County.  The vehicle that has been located is a black Mazda SUV.


This crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
