COCOA, Florida — The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that a 42-year-old man of Cocoa, Florida has died as a result of injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle accident that occurred just after 8 p.m. Sunday night near the intersection of U.S. 1 and Williams Point Boulevard in Brevard County, Florida.
According to FHP, the man was driving a 2002 Ford pickup that was traveling southbound on U.S. 1.near Sharpes, Florida. The tire tread separated from the wheel and the driver lost control of the pickup. The Ford then overturned into the median and the driver was ejected. The pickup truck then came to a final rest on its side on the shoulder of the northbound lane of U.S. 1.
The crash remains under investigation.
