EFSC Lockdown Lifted, Classes Canceled
11:30 AM Update: The Cocoa Campus emergency has ended and the lockdown ha been lifted. Authorities on site say the campus is safe. Cocoa Campus classes are cancelled for the rest of day. Classes on other EFSC campuses will be held as scheduled.
COCOA, Florida — Eastern Florida State College is on lockdown at its Cocoa campus located on 1519 Clearlake Road while law enforcement investigates reports of a suspect threatening gun violence.
Students and faculty on campus were told at 10 a.m. by college administrators to remain indoors and to lock all doors until further notice.
The administration also stated that students who are not already on the Cocoa campus should not come to campus until further notice. Students who were in class at the time of the security alert are locked in classrooms with their instructors.
Law enforcement teams are currently clearing buildings floor by floor and room by room.
