2017 Invest 92L Projected Path, Spaghetti Models

MIAMI, Florida – NOAA’s National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida issued a Tropical Weather Outlook at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017, due to the presence of a low pressure system that could become a tropical cyclone of the east coast Florida.

The system (orange X above), dubbed Invest 92L, is  located across North Florida and Central Florida.

Invest 92L continues to produce a large area of disorganized cloudiness and thunderstorms  over southern and central Florida and the adjacent waters.

NHC forecasters say that Invest 92L will move northeastward and emerge over the western Atlantic over the weekend where some development is expected through early next week before it merges with a front.

Regardless of development, very heavy rain and flooding is possible over portions of southern and central Florida during the next few days.

Invest 92L is also expected to cause increasing northeast winds and rough surf along the coast of Georgia and the Carolinas through early next week.

Invest 92L has a 40% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within the next five days.

Spaghetti models are in general agreement that Invest 92L’s projected path will take the system across Central Florida. The system will then parallel the North and South Carolina coastlines before moving out into the open Atlantic.

NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center forecasts that the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 through November 30, could be the busiest in seven years.
