FORT PIERCE, Florida – A Florida man and Florida woman arrested for shoplifting at Walmart were allegedly permitted to engage in sexual activity in the back of a police car by the arresting officer.
According to an internal investigation, Fort Pierce Police Officer Doug McNeal arrested 23-year-old Zachary Moellendick and 23-year-old Krista Leigh, both of Palm Bay, Florida, for allegedly stealing a baby toy and jewelry in July 2018.
McNeal initially handcuffed Leigh behind her back but later moved the handcuffs to the front so that she would be able to smoke a cigarette. The officer did not handcuff Moellendick because he was using crutches.
The pair were then placed in the back of the patrol car for transport to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
While in the back of the patrol car, the couple allegedly used their hands to pleasure each other while McNeal played Barry White’s “Can’t Get Enough Of You Babe” on the stereo.
The couple’s sexual activity was noticed by deputies at the jail’s sally port.
McNeal was later disciplined for not following police procedures and for unbecoming conduct.
