Brevard Public Schools Moves First Day Of School Again

During a Special Meeting on Tuesday, the Brevard County School Board unanimously approved Superintendent Dr. Mark Mullin’s recommendation for the Brevard Public Schools 2020-2021 calendar to move the first day of school from August 17 to August 24, 2020.

This is the second time the first day of school has been pushed back. Last week, the School Board moved the start date from August 11 to August 17.

The new start date of August 24 will further reduce winter break from 12 days to 10 days.

Four scheduled Student/Teacher holidays will be eliminated.

Early Release dates will remain the same in the revised calendar.

Although the new calendar is misaligned with the Eastern Florida State College calendar by one week, Board Member Matt Susin noted that dual enrollment should not be heavily impacted because most EFSC courses are now online.
