Taco Bell Run for the Border commercial
PALM BAY, Florida – A Florida man allegedly drove at 100MPH in a 40MPH no-passing zone to take his girlfriend to her interview at a Taco Bell in Palm Bay, Florida, around 2 p.m. on March 21, 2023.
According to the arrest affidavit, the incident began when Palm Bay police observed a Mercedes speeding recklessly on De Groodt Road in a no-passing zone near Galena Sreet.
The driver, later identified as 22-year-old Jevon Jackson, was allegedly attempting to pass a Palm Bay police unmarked patrol vehicle at a high rate of speed.
When police attempted to pull over the Mercedes, it allegedly passed another vehicle in the no-passing zone before eventually pulling over to the right shoulder.
Upon exiting the vehicle, police say that the Florida man admitted to driving recklessly, stating that he was speeding to get his girlfriend to a job interview at Taco Bell.
When police asked for his driver’s license, Jackson advised that his license was suspended.
When another Palm Bay police officer arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and was informed by the first officer that the driver had been traveling at approximately 100MPH, that’s when the Florida man allegedly interrupted and denied the allegation, stating that he was driving at 75MPH instead.
There were three juveniles in the vehicle along with his girlfriend who was not properly restrained, police say.
Police say that, due to Jackson’s reckless driving, he had put the lives of his passengers in grave danger.
Police then arrested Jackson and charged him with reckless driving, habitual traffic offender (suspended), and child neglect.
